Sunscreen without oxybenzone (and other nasties)

Did you know that sunscreen that gets into the sea can pollute the ocean? This is partly due to the ingredients Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, but also microplastics and nanoparticles. Good news, we don’t have them in here!

Sugar cane packaging

Did you know that our tubes are made of sugar cane? You can save up to +-55 grams of CO2 per Sugar Cane tube compared to a normal plastic tube. Read more about our bio packaging.

How to use the sunscreen? Apply sunscreen to your child every two hours. A thin layer provides sufficient protection, so use small amounts at a time. Don’t forget to take these spots with you: around the eyes, ears and the corners of the nose. Once rubbed in, your child is protected +-two hours with SPF 30. Don’t forget: Even in the shade, the sunscreen should be applied.

Protection against UV radiation can be done with a chemical or physical filter. A physical filter is also called a natural or mineral UV filter. The active ingredient for this is zinc oxide. This lays a layer on the skin which reflects the sun. To make the cream easy to spread, you will also find natural oils such as olive oil, coconut oil and sunflower oil. The formulation is kind to the skin, but also to nature. The cream is 100% vegan, free of oxybenzone and octinoxate, free of microplastics and contains no nanoparticles.

INCI: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Zinc Oxide, Isoamyl Laurate, Stearyl Heptanoate, Hydrogenated Soy Polyglycerides, Candelilla Cera/ Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Stearyl Caprylate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Parfum/Fragrance, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, C15-23 Alkane, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil

Why we choose a natural SPF filter

You can choose between a sunscreen with mineral uv filters or chemical UV filters. Chemical filters are made of synthetic, organic substances. These filters are absorbed into the skin and absorb the UV radiation there.

Mineral filters are made from natural ingredients such as zinc oxide. The filters lay a layer on the skin through which radiation is reflected. This protects the skin immediately (no soaking time) and the chance of a skin reaction is minimal. This makes natural UV filters suitable for the most sensitive skin, including newborns.

Natural UV filters are also friendlier to the ocean. This is because it does not contain oxybenzone or octinoxate. these are ingredients that make the coral fade and endangers marine organisms.

What does SPF mean?

A frequently asked and justified question. SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and is a factor that protects the skin against harmful UV rays. The number behind the SPF indicates how long you can sit in the sun before sunburn occurs. If you normally burn within 10 minutes, you can sit in the sun protected for 500 minutes with an SPF50. So you choose the factor based on how quickly the skin burns.

The difference between SPF50 and SPF30
is minimal. SPF30 protects 96% against UV radiation, SPF50 protects 98% against UV radiation. The idea that SPF30 protects less well makes people lubricate better and more often than SPF50.
